Water Safety

During a heat wave many people will seek relief in lakes, pools and rivers across the province. This uptick of swimmers, rafters, and floaters will create an increase of water rescues and heat-related illness. Local authorities ask everyone to #BePrepared and take the following precautions while outside during an extreme heat event:

·         Stay hydrated, take sun breaks, and drink water even when you’re not thirsty.

·         Limit your sun exposure when the UV is highest between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., and always wear a hat and sunscreen outside.

·         If you’re out on the water, wear a life jacket and keep an emergency kit on hand.

·         If you, or someone near you is in trouble, call 911.

The best way to have fun in the sun is by ensuring you and your loved ones stay informed on local weather and events and are prepared for any possible outcome.

Tornado Season

Tornado season has arrived, and it runs through September. #BePrepared and know the facts and preparedness measures to take:

-          Most tornadoes develop in the late afternoon and early evening;

-          They are often hard to see from far away and may not have a visible funnel cloud;

-          They usually come from the south or west but can change direction quickly.

If disaster strikes, shelter in place by moving quickly and calmly to a room in the basement or lowest floor that is away from windows. If you are outside, seek shelter in a sturdy building or get out of your vehicle, crouch low to the ground and cover your head. Do not take shelter underneath a bridge or overpass.

Downloading the SaskAlert app now can provide you critical, lifesaving alerts when tornadoes and severe storms occur.

2024 Natural Gas Pipeline Inspection

SaskEnergy Inspectors or qualified Field Representatives will be inspecting the gas line system in our community. To inspect the gas lines, they may utilize a variety of techniques that can include both vehicle-mounted equipment and hand-held devices. These highly sensitive instruments are designed to detect natural gas and will be used to survey above and below ground infrastructure. In the event that a natural gas leak is detected or other repairs to the system need to be made, SaskEnergy personnel will respond accordingly.

This will be taking place beginning mid-April and be completed mid-June.

Effective Immediately - Partial Fire Ban

The partial fire ban will remain in effect until conditions improve.

At this time recreational fires are still permitted. Please refer to the Town of Marshall’s Open Fire and Fireworks Bylaw 03-2019 for specific guidelines on acceptable firepits and regulations regarding fires within town limits.
